 Three stories of Black women ‘For Elsie Dorrington’- the story of a young woman who has fallen into the life of prostitution with tragic consequences; ‘Motion’- the story of a 14 yr old girl from North Preston who discovers her family originated in the Gullah Islands off South Carolina and that ‘she can fly’; and ‘The Return’ a rich socialite returns to her impoverished home village in Nova Scotia fleeing ‘an unknown terror’ and disturbs the order of her family and the village by revealing hidden family secrets.

 

Performance History

This play was created for the 1995 Atlantic Fringe Festival. ‘Motion’ was later adapted as a solo performance. ‘The Return’ was developed into a full-length play and presented in the 2017 Halifax Fringe Festival.
