A multi-media presentation (drama, video, music, storytelling) of Black community’s experiences during the 1917 Halifax Explosion. Featuring the testimonials of Dr. Clemente Ligoure (Nova Scotia’s first Black physician and a hero of the Explosion), Emily Davis (Viola Desmond’s sister and survivor), James Johnston (Halifax lawyer and founder of the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Chidren’s whose first building that was destroyed in the explosion). Also testimonials of Black claimants who were denied compensation by the Halifax Relief Committee which was granted the authority to distribute funds collected for victims.
