Kordeena Clayton is a self-taught multi-disciplinary queer artist who works in painting, photography and film. Her work explores the history and politics of Black and Brown people and seeks their empowerment through artmaking. She is the owner of She Nubian Liberation Art & Apparel and is the founder of Takin’ BLK Business initiative Co-operative and often produces artwork under the brand names Unapologetically Black and Unapologetically Queer. Her artwork and films have been shown at Nocturne Halifax and the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre, Shelburne. In 2022, she served as the first ever artist in residence at the Black Loyalist Heritage Centre in Shelburne.
