Ibe Ananaba was born in Belgium and grew up in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria where he studied Fine and Applied Arts at the Institute of Management and Technology. He began his art career maintaining an art practice studio as well as working as an art director in the magazine industry. His works explore social and political issues of the human condition. His painting Redemption Song (pictured above) was recently featured in Dak’Art 2022- the 14th edition of The Biennale of Contemporary African Art, Dakar, Senegal. He moved to Halifax in Jan 2022 along with his wife and textile artist Ada Onyejike-Ananaba and is currently working on his first Halifax exhibition.
