Duane Jones

Duane Jones is an Artist and Designer from Bermuda currently based in Kjipuktuk (Nova Scotia). Through graphic symbolism, colour and typography, his work takes a critical look at contemporary culture, race, gender, beauty and his role as a Black, cisgender man in contemporary society. He founded on-line retail platform and podcast Art Pays Me and is a Web Content Specialist at Dalhousie University. In 2021, Duane was named one of the most inspiring immigrants in the Maritimes and in 2022, Art Pays Me was a finalist for Small Business of the Year in the Halifax Business Awards. Duane holds degrees from Bermuda College, NSCAD University and Dalhousie University, has served on the NSCAD University Board of Governors (The first person of African descent to serve) and is currently a member of the Canadian Art Foundation Board of Directors. Duane also dabbled in art curation and has served as a peer juror and mentor in the creative arts community.
